AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL CHOOSES LAVA SYSTEMS INC. TO MANAGE ITS INFORMATION ASSETS LAVA's provides single point of access to large volumes of information TORONTO, April 8 /CNW/ - LAVA Systems Inc. (TSE:LVA) today announced that the South Gippsland Shire Council, a leading municipal government body in Victoria, Australia, has chosen LAVA for its new document management and information workflow system, following an intensive evaluation process. ''We evaluated ten products and LAVA was clearly the best one to manage the extensive automated document control and online electronic records systems we require,'' said Glenn Patterson, Corporate General Manager of South Gippsland Shire Council. ''Not only did LAVA provide a tremendous amount of functionality, it was easy to use and integrated very well with our current system without the need for additional hardware or software. From an IT management perspective, LAVA's customization features are second to none and we are confident that LAVA can be repeatedly customized in-house, supporting any business scenario.'' South Gippsland Shire Council chose LAVA Systems as its document management and workflow system as the organization makes a major shift away from traditional records management to a total knowledge management solution. To meet its business objectives, the Council relies heavily on having information systems in place to provide appropriate access to corporate information. It is crucial that the council's personnel can make informed decisions secure in the knowledge that they have access to all relevant information available. Document management, imaging and workflow play a key role in assisting the council to achieve this goal by providing the information and processes needed to satisfy business requirements. The Council will use LAVA to scan, register and distribute all incoming correspondence. And the documents supporting core business processes and procedures, which are essential to the success of the Shire's business, will also be managed by LAVA. Mr. Patterson expects LAVA will pave the way for better-informed decisions from management. The council will also receive significant benefits through the provision of a single point of access for all information, improved customer relations and complaint handling, paper reduction, elimination of work duplication, and increased employee accountability with the use of workflow. The Council plans to integrate LAVA into GIS systems, contracts management and human resources packages in the future.
