p friend,
Inline with that thought. What are the percentages that short sellers hit CVUS to drive price down and repurchase more and cheaper shares. Small float, low volume, very doable. Now they buy cheap to sell to WNP.. Just a very wild thought that hit me when reading your post. Like you said these guys have money, money has friends. Wouldn't be the first time, and won't be the last time.
Your thoughts are more realistic. However, I think your price is low for a key part of the Northeast puzzle.. I think there might be a jump in price tomorrow.

U S WEST Successful Bidder In FCC's Recent LMDS Auction

DENVER, March 25 /PRNewswire/ -- U S WEST Communications (NYSE: USW) announced today that it has successfully acquired wireless spectrum in eight markets in its 14-state region. The spectrum, known as LMDS (Local Multi- point Distribution Service), enables a new breed of wireless services suitable for high bandwidth voice, data, and video transmissions.

U S WEST was the only Bell company to successfully acquire spectrum in the auction. The company invested approximately $10 million to secure spectrum in the following markets:

* Denver and Grand Junction, Colorado

* Portland and Eugene, Oregon

* Omaha and Lincoln, Nebraska

* Tucson, Arizona

* Des Moines, Iowa

"U S WEST is always interested in pursuing new technologies that hold great promise in helping us better serve customers," said Brendan F. Reidy, vice president Strategic Planning, U S WEST Communications. "While this technology will require further development before it is suitable for deployment, we're pleased that we're well positioned now to move forward should LMDS offer the right fit for our customers."

In the future, experts believe LMDS wireless services will be used to transport high bandwidth communications such as voice, data, and video services. For its part, U S WEST will be able to use the spectrum to supplement its existing wireline network. In markets where the company did not acquire spectrum, U S WEST may pursue additional spectrum as necessary in the future.

LMDS is the largest block of wireless spectrum the FCC has ever auctioned. Two blocks of spectrum were available in each market, 1150 MHz of A block spectrum and 150 MHz of B block spectrum. Because U S WEST was restricted by the FCC from acquiring A block spectrum in its home territory, the company acquired only smaller B block licenses in its region. The FCC auction ended March 25 with winning bidders being announced this week.

U S WEST Communications provides telecommunications services -- including wireline, wireless PCS and data networking -- to more than 25 million customers in 14 western and midwestern states. The company is one of two major groups that make up U S WEST, a company in the connections business, helping customers share information, entertainment and communications services in local markets worldwide. U S WEST's other major group, MediaOne Group, is involved in domestic and international cable and telephone, wireless communications, and directory and information services. U S WEST has proposed splitting the two groups into separate public companies sometime after mid- 1998, pending shareowner and other approvals.
