Gateway 2000 signs Pulsar government deal

NORTH SIOUX CITY, S.D., March 25 (Reuters) - Gateway 2000 Inc. said Wednesday it signed an agreement with Pulsar
Data Systems Inc. to offer Gateway computers and products to the U.S. federal government through a Pulsar contract.

Pulsar Data, a computer systems integrator, will offer Gateway products through the National Institute of Health Electronic
Computer Store II (NIH ECS II) contract. The electronic store provides all federal government agencies with off-the-shelf
computer hardware, software, maintenance and other services.

''Federal agencies now have the ability to purchase an end-to-end Gateway solution through the NIH ECS II contract,'' said
Jim Connal, director of Gateway's federal division.

Pulsar is one of 45 vendors awarded the second electronic computer store contract. Under the contract, Pulsar maintains and
manages an electronic computer store catalog on the Internet.

The first NIH ECS contract totaled $175 million in its first government fiscal year ended September 1997.

Gateway is a global direct marketer of personal computers and products.
