In any case I am absolutly positive that the cause of my problems was NetNav

Tried IE4 Eugene? Tales of much worse abound in the press. Particularly for Compaq.

and that the claim of write once run anywhere is at best specious at worst a con game.

Uh, is this a non sequiter or what?

Cheers, Dan.

Eugene: I run 2 browsers just like you do..or tried to and for the same reason. I use IE4 for general internet activity...and Nescape Communicator (Navigator) 4.01 for mlol.

This is not the version of Netscape provided by mlol. mlol requires a 128K encrypted browser. It does not have to be Netscape but must be 128K encrypted. I also run on a Compaq (7700 notebook) and have never had any problems....good luck...CG
