Rocky,

>>>Mom likes her $25 film camera just fine. She drops off the used film at the grocery store while shopping, then by the the time she's done, the pictures are ready. This is a ritual Americans are used to which will be hard to break.<<<

The horseshoe & saddle business was great before the automobile was introduced.

About three to four years ago when the first PDA's were hitting the market, they were not well received. Didn't get good press, and they didn't impress me. However the new PDA's like the Pilot 3 are awesome.

AS for digital photography, it is still young, and will become more popular as technology progresses. What technology will rule the storage of photos? Who knows for sure?

Rocky, I consider you a man of incontestable virtues but I have to disagree with you on the camera issue: digital cameras will be the standard in the not-too-distant future. Having said that, I agree wholeheartedly with your assertion that slapping a Zip drive on a camera is akin to putting Sears Diehard from the wrong end of the quality assurance line on a cellular phone, or words to that effect. Given Iomega's technological poverty, do you have a time frame for their demise, or shall we just leave it open with a qualified imminent?

Rocky, I think in the digital photography field 2 things must happen simultaneously. The quality of the photos must improve and the price for the cameras must come down. Otherwise how will Joe 6 pack ever afford one? I think the co's are working on both. Will continue this discussion tomorrow night. SR

That's a wonderful bit of market research, Rocky. Unfortunately it doesn't explain why digital photography, editing, and storage have been gaining popularity in the last couple of years. Nor does it explain why so many manufacturers are clamoring for a piece of the growing pie.

It does explain who probably won't be buying Click, however. But that's OK with me. I'll be satisfied with her children's purchases. Her children who are computer literate and who are attracted to the idea of digital photography, editing, storage, and printing. Hell, color printing is so good now you can print money with it good enough to get you a table dance in just about any night club.

Click is dead all right, just like zip was dead until it was produced and the market found out how useful it was and still is.
