Cheey Kid,
>> If you want reliable disc, you may want to write at 1x, althought it will work at well at 2x. <<

Do you really have problem with 2x writing or you just want to play safe? I have the HP 7100i with 2.02 firmware. HP 7200 has identical hardware (both are OEM version of Philips CDD3610) but much improved software. I never have any problem burning at 2x which is still slow imo. To move 100MB to a CDR takes 6 minutes, will take even longer if using packet writing. CDR is a great tool, once you try it, you don't want to lose it! But for floppy replacement I think HiFD, Zip or LS120 is more suitable.

HP 7200i now is the best choice for low cost EIDE CD-RW solution because the DAO and VCD playback bugs are fixed and a full-feature Adaptec Easy CD Creator now is bundled.
