ZITL is a scam. IOM was a cult stock. YHOO is for real.

At the time IOM was for real and it had real earnings and revenue growth. Yahoo on the other hand, earned 5 cents and is projecting 35 cents this year on 70% earnings growth and is trading at 88. That's real? IOM was going to become the standard for all computers and it was the ole razor and razor blade story. ZITL was going to solve the world's y2k problem which was perceived at the time as the greatest disaster in history.

<<The internet isn't going away in 2001>>

Now that's true but what does that have to do with the price of rice in China? The internet isn't going away so therefore Yahoo is worth 4.7 billion today? I don't follow..... we're back to trading today what it might be worth (that's might be) 5 years from now? If that's the whole strategy for the market now it probably is the time for the market to collapse.

craig,

LOL. you really crack me up.

ZITL and IOM had/have patents and copyrights--those "barriers
to entry" that some of bears here mention sometimes. Also,
once people bought those ZIP drives, quite a few of them
went back to buy more disks, and there was only one supplier
(IOM), with no clones allowed. If they tried to fit something
from Syquest into their ZIP drive, the harder they pushed, the
the more damage it caused. And 3M Imation was out of the picture.

Tell me craig, sorry if i'm slow, but if XCIT has a better portal
site, and it's the same free price, why won't current YHOO
users switch to XCIT? Is it because they love the brand name?

Why is yahoo a better brand name than excite?

I switched my home location from my.yahoo.com to my.excite.com
today. Took 5 minutes. Instead of coding my identifier in
the cookies file like my.yahoo does, my.excite codes the ID
into a long URL. This means i can delete my cookies and still
keep my ID information intact with excite. Seems like a better
mousetrap. Has anyone else here tried it, and compared it
to my.yahoo for quality and quantity of content, ease-of-use,
snazziness-of-interface, and, (above all!) quality-of-ads?
