UK MP seeks new law on 'millennium
bug' plans
10:00 a.m. Mar 26, 1998 Eastern

LONDON, March 26 (Reuters) - A British
parliamentarian said on Thursday he would seek to
introduce legislation forcing companies to tackle the
so-called ''millennium bug.''

Opposition Conservative David Atkinson will next
week introduce a private members bill which, if
passed, would make it illegal for companies not to
alter their computer systems to cope with the date
change to the year 2000.

series of educational video cassettes that will help both consumers and
businesses prepare their PCs and Macs for the Year 2000 rollover. The tapes
feature two top experts in the Y2K/PC problem, Karl Feilder of Greenwich
Mean Time Ltd. and Dr. Leon Kappelman of the University of North Texas.'

They go on to say

'The company offers a four tape library that can be
used to train field engineers and help desk personnel to properly prepare
the PCs. These videos include: "Computer Clock Systems", "Hardware Systems
Maintenance", "Software Operating Logic", and " Date Data Information."
There is also a management set that is designed to help managers and
supervisors in charge of their enterprises' Y2K/PC remediation programs. All
videos include supporting written information such as flow charts, glossary
of terms, diagrams, time lines, etc.'

'The company is also introducing a consumer version to assist home users.....'
