Frank,

I have never seen a company placed "back" on an index list after being removed. Companies are only added to the list of whatever index due to another company failing to meet the requirements of the index. In general, you need to have a certain market cap for the larger lists and be recognized as a leader in your industry. You need to have had a certain growth rate in terms of revenue and profits to initially be put on the list. But once you are off, you only get back on if someone else falls off and your stock is more representative of an industry than others.

These comments are for the S&P 100 type indexes, not things like the Russell 2000 which is much broader.
