In January I expected a profit of $20-40 and AAPL delivered even more. But I got killed buying Jan 20 options when the stock closed at only 19.75

I agree that the stock will move dramatically, but the magnitude will have more to do with analyst upward revisions for future quarters, and that will depend on HOW they made the money. Increased market share would be key, not just reduced expenses and better margin.

Just for safety (in addition to my trading shares) I am now buying longer options even though the leverage is greatly reduced.
