Re: Win98

Hello all.

Windows 98 is ... a turd.

The ONLY reason anyone will adopt 98 en masse -- and this could indeed prove to be a compelling reason, a little mini-killer-app, if you will -- is YEAR 2000 COMPLIANCE.

We'll see 98 in all new PCs, of course, after its release. But enterprise adoption of 98 will factor solely on Y2K.

If you have any doubt of this, just try Win98 for yourself and see. For 99% of computer users, there's NOTHING that you get from 98 that you can't get in 95. Ironically, I think Microsoft kind of shot themselves in the foot by not significantly changing the look and feel of the interface in 98.

I'm not sure I understand your comment about extending the PC BTO conversion cycle.

God bless,
PX
