Correct. That is exactly how a short bust works. What many don't understand though, is that it sounds like the results should be practically instantaneous (like 3-6 days), but in fact, there are all manner of delays built into the system that can cause the onset of a squeeze to drag out for weeks or even months before any substantial price appreciation happens. Witness the fact that your broker probably said 3-6 weeks to deliver your certs. Most of that is administrative delays at your broker before the request even gets to the transfer agent. Needless to say, the average Joe loses patience and leaves before the squeeze takes place....

Good morning Brad,

Yes, I agree - kicking the can around in a positive way like this is good. The best defense for our positions is to get all the cards out on the table, and look at them. With some good insights from Roo and Mike and mike, we are all learning how this whole short thing works. I must say, it's very interesting to see how all the pieces of the puzzle fit together. The more we know, the better our chances are of doing something about it.
