Jock:

I'm no expert here. But it seems to me the stock cannot be removed from the sector or the market. The underlying company's behavior is what FA will try to uncover. Many stocks stick to trading ranges most of the time. I think for the short term that is definitely where we are with LSI. We need good sector news AND good company news. The types of companies that are immune to sector news are smaller companies in niche markets or companies that have a history of beating earnings and have thus gained the support of the shareholders who will refuse to sell. LSI does not qualify on both counts now. But maybe after a few quarters of good earnings perhaps. However the baby needs to learn to crawl before it can walk. Right now I'm looking for my first quarter of good behavior from LSI. That will be a start. But even here we are not immune from the market and the sector.

So thus while LSI may be outperforming now, when one is in a trading range, I think the amount of outperformance depends on where we start counting from. It could easily be underperformance if we change the point where we start counting from.

Besides a picture is still worth a thousand words! (joke)
