"My feeling all along has been that this has been a normal inventory correction exacerbated by the problem in Asia."
Not quite so "normal", I think. It is also exacerbated by the fact that, as Pierre and others have pointed out with respect to drives, hardware has, for the moment, exceeded software requirements by so much that companies don't have the same need to upgrade. And with Y2K costs, they will cut corners on equipment purchases whenever possible, I'm sure. One can hope that when the new Windows and NT programs come, people will want to upgrade more. Or wait for Pierre's killer app to come along. Or wait for Merced next year, although that is a longish wait.

Yuck.
