Sorry...This "and make secure purchases on the Internet." Should have been "and conduct secure transactions on the Internet."

From the last 10 Q..

"The Company's focus has turned from integration of acquisitions to evolution of the electronic commerce marketplace and quality improvement combined with greater efficiency. The Company is driving to grow the profitability of the business by continuing to grow revenue and realizing the economies of scale and leverage inherent in its business model as well as continuing to improve costs primarily in remittance, customer care and data processing. With continued sales and marketing efforts geared toward promoting its new electronic commerce offerings, especially electronic bill presentment, existing and enhanced investment and software product and service offerings, and the continued growth in subscribers resulting from the continued
acceptance in the marketplace of electronic commerce services, the Company expects revenue to continue to improve. Improvements in remittance and customer care costs and quality will primarily be driven by an increased percentage of electronic versus paper transactions processed on certain platforms. Improvements in data processing costs and quality are addressed by the Company's Genesis project, which is designed to provide a single, state of the art processing platform and to promote customer care efficiency. Genesis will also contribute to an increased percentage of transactions being effected electronically."

I think you need to understand one thing. CheckFree is into Bill Payment (Phone,Gas,etc.). Other Companies (CYCH) are into Merchant transactions (Visa,Internet purchase,etc.). These are two totally different transactions.

>>>Their bill payment model does not get the vendor paid until 4 business days after the payor transmits the instruction.

CheckFree doesn't have every biller hooked up electronically, and therefore must allow lead time. CheckFree has a Pay Anyone Model, that means it's as easy to send a payment to your gas company as it is to your Uncle 'Lue' (You can pay anyone, anytime). Because of this Pay anyone model CheckFree must allow for lead time. And remember when paying bills, it isn't smart to pay fast, the more time the money sits in your checking account, the more interest for you. And Yes CheckFree can pay faster than 4 days (if the biller is hooked up), but they do not guarantee it.

>>>Will they evolve rapidly enough to keep from being passed in this space?

Actually CheckFree is leading the way, why do you think MSFDC was formed?
