David,>A question about DW. When a sector enters the oversold area, how long can it sit there before things are expected to turn around? In particular, in 1996 first half and last year October - December, how long did was it between when the sector reached oversold and the turn around occurred?<

At the last down turn in 7/96, $22 presplit (11 postsplit) AMAT went to $40 by the last of November, 1996. Then went to $49 by the middle of January '97, $55 the last of middle of February, $72 the middle/last of May, $93 the last of July, and $108 the middle/last of August,'97. Therefore in just approx. 13 months AMAT went from its low of approx. $22 to $108 presplit. This process followed Tito's yoyo stair step process.

DW does not predict the time it will takes to move from price "A" TO price "B". I only cited in the above what was true during the last up cycle. Hope this helps you. When AMAT starts to move--it appears to move big time!

Just my $.02.
