Any one have any ideas why Tidewater is down big and TMAR, a smaller competitor is up big today? No news I can find. Thanks in advance. Would also appreciate the thread's opinion on TDW in general.

Tulvio,
All the drilling companies will benefit from the firming oil prices which will encourage higher dayrates. The big difference comes from the longer-term contracts for deep drilling. During a period of full utilization and rising dayrates, companies with shorter contract periods are able to renew contracts at the higher dayrates more frequently. Ultimately, the rising rates benefit all the drillers, but the impact lags a bit for the deep drillers.
Hope this helps.
