You've made some good points.

If I'm correct, you may remember recently Dell anounced they won't be affected by a price war, sales are still strong.

Regards,
Mike

Right on target on all points! Excellent response.

A few additional thoughts:
An oversupply of components helps Dell because it doesn't carry inventory!
It's interesting that Dell's competitors think they are in a price war, bu Dell hasn't noticed it. What does that mean do you suppose <VBG>.

Regards,

Paul

Dell has no proprietary technology relative to IBM/CPQ/HP - Dell's lack of proprietary technology allows for 7 days inventory turns.

Good point, even on this thread people talk about computer technology as a reason for Dell's success when their real innovations are in business analysis, and the ability to build that into a working business model. But also people looking at CPQ need to understand the same thing - the battle is over business strategy, not technology.

You're also correct that all of Kaufman's arguments have been stated (with a lot more background support) by the bears on this thread. Once again SI leading the rest of the world by days or weeks...

Lee, can you elaborate on the point about the lack of proprietary tech. allowing for quick inventory turns. Thanks.
