I lost track. Are we betting on OC-48? Or 1 million SVC's? ASND is already doing 250,000 SVC's in beta's. I'll bet that ASND is the only vendor in 1998 that can do 1 million SVC's.

Pat, you're suffering from technobabble. This is actually one of Asnd's achillies heels. They focus too much on technology and not enough on marketing. (See previous posts.) Carriers, don't buy technology, they buy solutions....Asnd needs to wrap these fine developments around a strong story which help carriers sell services (not bandwidth) to their constiuents. If they do this we'll have a great run-up.

This all being said we were talking about OC-48. The SVC issue will likely surprise you as well. But, I don't want to get into an arms race of opinions with you regarding what company will come out with what technology when. It's a waste of time. There are indeed areas where ASND is leading technology development, there are also areas where CSCO is leading, NT is leading, sheeesh even CC! who knows. Each company has an area of focus where they lead - if even by a little bit. My original comment to you was in reference to your statement that ASND was way ahead on the OC-48 development. Your statement, in my informed opinion, is in err. ASND may have OC-48 this year, but they will not be alone - guaranteed. If you wish to wager a beer on that then let's go. However, let's not blow this out of proportion as I have no intention of wasting anyone's time on the thread with bickering about each area of technology development.
