Paul. Y2K is a sink hole. It sucks money out of the IT budget for NEW hardware and software... technology that can improve operations. Sure a small amount of Y2K money will go to buying hardware and software. e.g. scrapping old mainframe based systems for new client server systems. even a smaller percentage of Y2K money will go to new hardware/software for remediating code. MOST of the Y2K dollars will go to Y2K tools, consultants, internal people time, and system time for Y2K work. Most Y2K dollars will go to LABOR and existing COMPUTING resources.
