I did look back at a 1994 annual report and compared the average monthly volume in 1994 in that report (the numbers were definitely pre-split since the split took place in mid-1995) to the the average trading volume in a Vickers graph. They did indeed adjust for the split. SI has given us a daily average volume (for the appropriate month) in the monthly graphs but just by looking at numbers roughly they definitely do appear to be doubled. So life is back to normal.

As you say there definitely has been a surge.

Trust everything on SI - sure!!! don't we all!
