Hello Herb,

Here in San Diego, both SouthWestern cable and Cox Cable provide the cable modem service. Dirk already gave you the numbers for Cox. I recently had SouthWestern install a cable modem at my place. Regular installation charges are $100. They had some special going on, I paid $80 for the installation. This includes the ethernet card which I keep even when I cancel the service. There is a monthly flat rate of $45 over and above the regular cable charges for unlimited usage. I don't think they limit the speed at any time. Its whatever you can get from the cable channel. The more the number of users, the slower the access becomes because it is a shared medium just like ethernet. I am very happy with the service.

You might also want to check if someone is providing XDSL service in your area. Some of the ISP's are already doing that.

Regards
Arvinder

PS - I am anxiously waiting for the April 15 results. I bought aapl back in August of last year at close to $27 and am sitting on them.
