I think it's an interesting aspect of human nature that people get wedded to a stock/company. It's even worse with Apple. I would guess that most of the small position holders (under 10K shares) are Apple cultists - can't stand to hear anything negative.

Andon, you are way too late. The resident bears in this thread, such as yours truly, have been as saying the same thing for the last two years. And just about when Apple has a ray of hope with their succesful launches of MacOS 8.0 and G3 you show up saying: "you know, this company is in a lot of trouble".

You might think you are smart by saying "apple is dead", but you are only showing (a) how slow you were to clue in on Apple's problems and (b) how slow you are in noticing that at long last there is the potential of a turnaround situation.

Me neither, unless the desire for a return could be considered a sentiment. But the holding you referred to was only a couple of hundred quid's worth. Probably not worth disposing of after commissions, taxes, etc.

The interesting thing though is that I have yet to see an informed, cogent, reasoned, argument made for shorting Apple this quarter. It is the negative posts that tend for the most part to be filled with the sentimental guff of which you complain.

I for one would be very interested to learn when and why you think this stock will "hit the rocks". Another opportunity to lower my aggregate would be greatly appreciated, and if you've got a road map.

Regarding what you call the Apple cultists, they are probably one of the best assets this company has. Apple spent the guts of five years trying to get rid of its customers, but it just couldn't shake them. So when it finally started to deliver good product again (OS8, G3s, and more to come) there was a market there waiting to rip pages out of their chequebooks.

Let's look at it another way. Six months ago Adobe's news would have seen AAPL get really slapped around by the market. Instead look at the bottom of the page.

Have a good weekend
