This is a misconception by many in the industry
I respect your opinion. If you have time, spend some time at the following web site x86.org to see if Intel's business practice is fair and decent. Remember the Pentium bug cover-up. OEM motherboard conspiracy and CPU overclocking. Too many to mention. I still remember how badly Mr. Softie wanted to swallow Quicken because nobody wants his Money if not being stopped by the Justice Dept. I will try to find time and find an equivalent site to show what really happens to Netscape Communications.

Thanks for the response, I'll check out the site. However, the points you make above are normal reactions for any company in a competitive market. If it wasn't a competitive market they would care. As for Mr. Softie and Quicken, again, I echo these same sentiments. The browser war's are a serious threat to Microsofts market dominance for PC OS's. That's what we're really talking about - market dominance through shrewd - no illegal - business practices. Some vendors a jealous but I'll tell you this.... if all our PC's are attached to the internet and we all what to send and recieve information in a compatible manner then we'll need to either have standards which all s/w companies can write to or a single OS and set of applications. This is good for us - perhaps not for MSFT's competitors, but certainly good for the PC and the networking industry. McNealy and Barksdale (sp) are simply whining so they can get a better advantage in competing with tomorrows operating systems - the browser. But, their wrong. You see, we need to be able to migrate to tomorrow OS - not cut bait....that's why it makes all the sense in the world to have an integrated Windows OS (what we're all using right now) and a browser. I agree with MSFT in this regard and applaud their desire to be innovative enough to integrate these products and offers us users a smooth migration path.
