HUMMINGBIRD INCREASES DOMINANCE OF PC X SERVER MARKET

Company now commands over 62% of global market for leading PC-UNIX
integration technology, 4-1/2 times the share of closest competitor

TORONTO, March 31 /CNW/ - Hummingbird Communications Ltd. (NASDAQ:
''HUMCF'' and TSE: ''HUM''), a leading PC to enterprise connectivity software company, has increased its worldwide market share in the PC X server market dramatically to 62.2%, according to a report released recently by International Data Corp., a leading industry analyst organization covering the PC X server market. Hummingbird's number one position represents a market share that is almost 4-1/2 times that of its nearest competitor. By contrast, all other competitors except one lost market share.
The report, entitled 1997 PC X Server Market Results (IDC No.15630, March 1998), states: ''The PC X server market in 1997 belonged, as it has every other year, to Hummingbird. The company consistently has managed throughout its history to soar above the majority.'' In addition, the report states: ''No vendor will be able to unseat Hummingbird as the dominant vendor.''
