I agree, I'm not positive about the 65% number either. If true it would apply to boxes sold in retail stores...where, in Jan., 71% of IBMs boxes were non Intel and 60% of Compaqs were non-Intel. Overall, I doubt seriously that Intel has only 65%...if you count business, servers and the like. On the other hand, the trend is clear...

I just heard on CNBC that Compaq has slashed prices again and is offering some models at $500 to clear inventory. The adds they showed looked like 233 Mhz w/MMX. Also that PC sales growth dropped 1.8% worldwide from 1996 to 1997. Worse in the USA....from 19% growth to 15% if I recall correctly.
Beware however, wall street has tried many times to "slowdown" the growth in the tech sector.
