Shortlong,

I think the GS recommendation is important but not primary. I assume you agree. But I'm keen on the nice revenue growth and rise in net income. Also important to me is the number and type of institutional and insider ownership:

dljdirect.com

That site (if the link works) ought to provide you with a detailed overview of the major owners and insider transactions. I'm also glad that it's trading at such a low share price. I felt that the push into the 30's did not accurately portray the present value of future expected earnings. The low teens are much more comfortable to me. Still, AEIS has the challenge of overcoming the malaise faced by the whole industry. I'd imagine though that the flat panel display technology could be a big ticket item. PTIS is another company which has similar products as AEIS if you are looking for something in the $8 to $10 range. I haven't done the calculations myself, but Yahoo has PTIS's book value at $2.58 while AEIS's is $2.42. Ultimately, I own some AEIS but would sooner by PTIS for value while buying more AEIS for the strength of its reputation and following. But you know the market . The difference in market valuations may just be because "Advanced Energy" sounds cooler than "Plasma Therm".

For more comparison here is a link for PTIS:
