Tao in a regular market, GTW is about as good a short as you could pick, not in this market though.

Tao, re your GTW short, you might be interested in this info from today's WSJ (FYI, I was long GTW until the close last Friday. Wish I had seen this last week instead of today.). According to Computer Intelligence (www.ci.infobeads.com), manufacturer direct PC sales to the consumer market exceed sales through consumer electronics stores. In Q3'96, electronics store sales represented about 30% of consumer PC purchases vs. about 10% manufacturer direct. By Q4'97, they were about even and direct sales for this quarter are expected to exceed electronics stores' sales. See the "Technology Journal" section of today's WSJ, page B6 in the eastern edition.

This growth in market share for the direct channel could explain the optimistic outlook for GTW and DELL. FWIW, I do think it is reasonable to be concerned about the effects of CPQ and IBM inventory problems and price wars as well as the stock market in general. That's why I exited GTW, not because of specific concerns about GTW itself.

Good luck,
Bob
