Sonny: Could it be that we are trying to keep the wages down?

Gates is speaking to community colleges and those on the "welfare to work" program. At least I remember reading articles that said he was looking for workers in "unconventional" places. These programs are great and I commend him for taking the opportunities to an untapped segment.

Intel, on the other hand, is sponsoring ISEF (International Science and Engineering Fair) and Science Talent Search (run by Science Service and previously sponsored by Westinghouse). Intel is going for scientists, top notch researchers, the young talent that will come up with the great ideas.

Craig Barrett said, "As scientists we understand the importance of the Science Talent Search -- the importance of challenging our students to come up with the next inventions, the next great ideas, the next important scientific discoveries".

You can tell who is going for leadership and who is going for the "cheap" labor!

Makes me proud to own a bit of INTC! dmf
