Ha ha!

On a more sombre note, I think that SGI's spin-off of MIPS might be due to a fundumental shift in the psychology of the company. SGI is all about delivering incredible 3-D solutions. In their early days that brought them to create MIPS -- which turned out to be a productive enterprise. In the future, SGI's course will be steered toward the Microsoft platform, and that means that SGI and MIPS may part ways, and a nice cash bump will not hurt right now. But I am sorry to see MIPS go. I had nursed a faint hope that SGI might have developed a RISC chip that would push INTEL out of the PC market. I guess that hope is gone now. --JD
