OXY MOXY - Ken, I think it is a very fair question to ask why I sponsored OXY. Here are the reasons. mix in some strong FA (like sold gas system to Midcon for $3 billion, bot US reserves for $4 billion, is buying back shares, just spun chemical biz into joint venture with 2 other chemical companies- preparatory for sale or spin-off, great efficiences of scale. add a dash of TA, but suggest you look at a 5 year chart, not a 5 minute chart. OXY has a low of 14 in 1994, since then it has had a series of higher highs and higher lows. Yes stock is retesting the 30s area from december, but i think it will be a very sucessful test. other reasons, we talked here about getting some energy stocks in the portfolio. OXY is as attractive an energy company as any i see, and a lot less risky than many.
I have followed OXY for over 10 years, it has been one of the most boring and low-return companies imaginable. But there comes a time when a company undergoes major changes, and that often leads to a significant new evaluation of the stock. I think that is what is happening to OXY. They bot the US proved reserves, sold the gas transmission biz, combined the chemical biz, buying back stock. this is the look of a company preparing to make a major leap. Oh, one more thing, a good strong positive result on the old KWG - Kentucky Wind Guage. larrry
