Steve, I had some April 35 calls that were dwindling a few days ago. I believe AMAT has now had 4 up days in a row. I sold my calls yesterday because I was worried about the upcoming earnings announcements and could not tolerate the risk. I bought the calls when AMAT was around 37 and watched them drop as AMAT went to 32. The premium was being drained as well. I prefer to buy in the monies.

However, after today I am starting to doubt selling them. It seems like Microsoft ignited the techs. This move has been strong and unexpected. I don't know when the next important earnings announcements are(within 2 weeks), but I think they will decide if AMAT continues up or gives up the recent gains.

Looking back to last qtr. AMAT bottomed out at 26 and rose to 38 just before earnings. This qtr AMAT bottomed out (so far) at 31-32 and currently sits at 36-37 and it is still very early with 5-6 weeks left before earnings.

I don't know if this means anything, but I am curious to see if there is any correlation between this qtr and last for the 2-3 weeks leading up to the announcement.

This certainly eats up alot of time following this stuff so closely, doesn't it? A voice in my head keeps saying, "You know this is a good price. Just buy and check back in a few years." But the Trading/Gambling sickness takes over and crushes that thought like an Elephant stepping on a grape... Hi, my name is Steve and...
