Thanks for the explanation. I'll call Cheryl, too In the meantime, I came across this NASD site which should be of interest to all independent investors -- sort of an online Better Business Bureau devoted to the watching brokers/dealers:

I was hoping to find something about the complaint against Alexander, Wescott & Co. that you mentioned, but the site has no record of it. AW& Co.s CRD (Central Registration Depository) number is 35935. Could be a formal complaint about the DGIV stock action simply hasn't appeared online yet? Site has been open for only a few days.
