You have valid questions, but I'll let the egg heads answer them.

For you, I will rephrase my point. SGS Thomson appears to be moving closer to signing its phase II agreement with Ramtron, if it hasn't done so already. Because SGS Thomson is a dominant player in the smart card market, this will have significant impact for Ramtron regardless if Ramtron gets the foundry or SGS Thomson. The PR was a current glimpse of the market potential Ramtron is about to enter providing Thomson lets it in.

Recall Ramtron's last bit of financing... On the good side, cash in the bank will play well in negotiating with Thomson, maybe help Ramtron get the foundry if that is what it wants. Also, the preferred investors were probably told more about the SGS Thomson negotiations than we have been told or else why nickle down. Besides, they are now insiders holding restricted shares. No secrets have been betrayed.

As for your questions, who cares, obsolescence is the name of the game. That's where new sales come from. If companies cared about obsolescence, I wouldn't have a garage full of old computer equipment and TVs I can't put in the land fill now would I.
