I know financial companies such as banks, insurance companies, and so fourth are very concerned. 00 - 99 = -99 rather then 2000 - 1999 = 1. It's as simple as that. IMHO - Kurlak hasn't caught on yet, or like previous top corporate managers, is discounting the impact. Maybe he thinks it is a software problem, and funds spent fixing the software problem will inhibit the purchase of hardware. Some people believe that is the case. I don't really know, but I have seen indications other wise. Posted one about the FAA purchasing system the other night. IMO This along with newer applications will drive hardware sales. So you are not alone.

EHF:

Generally PC hardware does not have problems with Y2000. The software may. Large/Mainframe computer operating under Cobol will have most problems. Tandem already has a product solution for that. Digital probably has that too.

The software allows two digit for the year field. As a result all data file carries this. One need to fix the program as well as all data file that might be used. Generally you may or may not know where all that is in the file.

Cheers
