Jacky - I've "experienced" enthusiastic posters in the past and am aware of their continued presence. Thanks for your thoughts.

One way to check whether there are serious takeover rumors floating is to check the options volume. An increase over daily norms, plus an increase in open interest, is significant of something going on. There was no such increase yesterday. You can get the daily action on cboe.com, under the button "market quotes".

Of course, this doesn't mean a company with high option volume should be bought. Jacky AY's warning is a good one.

CBOE.com is good for the daily action. I wish I knew of a site that gave historical data for options and open interest. Anybody out there know of one?

Another way to check on takeover rumors is to follow changes in implied volatility. Again, WDC's current implied volatility is not out of line with historical volatility. See:

Jacky AY,

I agree with you 100%. Where do you hear such rumors? Typically in the halls of knaves and the courtyards of fools.

best,
Stitch
