"Off Topic, but in response" Phallus impudicus (impudicans?) is a "stinkhorn," a type of fungi. It is beautiful and although some of the stinkhorns can be eaten in the "egg" stage, they are definitely not edible once they expand out of the egg stage. It is also very easy to confuse an Amanita in the "egg" stage with a stinkhorn and some of the Amanitas are the most deadly mushrooms on the face of the earth. They contain the cyclotoxins. This is off the top of my head, if you want more I'll consult my books at home this evening.
