Oh one more thing guys.....

I e-mailed iomegas investor relations (they're pretty good about getting back to you within 3 to 4 days) about a contact to the advertising department of the company.....

I wonder if they are interested in what we might have to say....
I basically stated what Mr. Zead so eloquently put....
{Most people dont even know what a zip drive is}
And they won't know what one is either by watching those commercials.....
I let you know if they actually give me the departments adress or a representative thereof......

To All, FWIW.....Had a few jolts with senior exec of very major box maker tonight. His comments follow (I've know him quite a while and accord him a high credibility rating. That said, I vouch for not a single word).

"Zip is a great product. I have one at the office and one at home. They fill a real need and they are reliable."

"I use Zip to transfer files from one place to another.....I don't use them for permanent storage. I have about half a dozen disks, IOM is mistaken if they expect users like me to buy lots and lots of disks."

"We are adding no non-essentials to our computers now due to price pressures."

"Compaq has totally flooded the channel with machines so low cost that it is hard to believe they can make any money on them (he mentioned Compaq volume numbers but I don't recall them). As a result everyone else has followed and margins are at the bone, and, in many cases beyond. Many box makers and component suppliers are going to have horrible Q1 numbers.....and maybe Q2. Compaq might be trying to drive some weak hands out of the game."

"If IOM wants to expand the OEM base, they are going to have to feel the box makers' pain for awhile.....if not, lesser competitors willing to do so are going to take their place at the table."

"If IOM follows the old Apple plan of premium pricing, they're doomed. They're totally doomed. Zip is at a cross road.....we'll see."

"If Clik works and the price of a decent digital camera comes down, the need for an endless number of disks may actually materialize."

His summary comment was that IOM needs a new attitude as much as a new boss. I repeat: I vouch for none of this. Interesting, though.
