Kurlak presents a compelling argument for cheap chips: "the price points of the boxes are coming down so low it is putting pressure on chip companies to lower prices to do business with the PC companies. They have to cut prices, or somebody else will," Implications for CYMI are positive. Cheap chips means smaller and smaller print areas and higher production throughput. To produce them requires the new generation of DUV-laser equipped scan-and-step tools. Chip makers who don't upgrade fast enough will lose market share and may be forced out of business. The race is on. Chip makers will insist on a lot of hand holding from the tool vendors as they transition to the 0.25 micron and smaller dimensions. Cymer's world wide support system looms as a big positive. CYMI is well positioned with the right products and services at the right time. Tulvio

Re: "PCs consume about 35 percent of all chips." => Am I correct that it doesn't matter to CYMI whether the chips go in PCs or other devices, that in order to make the next generation chips, CYMI will be needed? Also am I correct that it isn't only in PCs that the next generation of chips are needed? char govar
