Maybe the savvy ones will pull out soon.

Or maybe they won't and a lot of mortgage companies will own a lot more R/E than they can possibly unload, home values plummet, banks stop lending to anyone (Interest rates will be lower, but who cares if no one is lending?), overleveraged consumers can't afford to buy much of anything, the economy comes to a screeching halt and wah-lah - deflationary recession.
