Toyko: KRUZ NEWS Just out! Europa Cruises Corporation Announces Receipt of Army Corps of Engineers Permit for Construction of Casino at Diamondhead Site MADEIRA BEACH, Fla., March 27 /PRNewswire/ -- Europa Cruises Corporation (Nasdaq: KRUZ - news) announced today that on March 26, 1998, it had received a Permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to construct a casino in the Bay of St. Louis, at its Diamondhead, Mississippi, location. The Company intends to construct a destination casino resort and hotel at its 404 acre site on the Bay of St. Louis at Diamondhead, Mississippi. The site, which is located immediately off Interstate 10, is adjacent to a site on which Circus Circus Enterprises, Inc. also intends to develop a destination casino resort and hotel. The Company's destination resort is expected to include a luxury hotel and spa, a sports and entertainment center, approximately 120,000 square feet of casino space, a state-of-the-art recreational vehicle park, a business conference center and an executive golf course. The Company had previously received site approval from the Mississippi Gaming Commission to construct its casino at the Diamondhead, Mississippi location; a Permit from the Mississippi Commission of Marine Resources; and Water Quality Certification from the Mississippi Department of Environmental Quality. Several lawsuits contesting the award of these permits are pending. The Company also announced today that it had taken the offensive and filed suit on March 26th, immediately after receiving the Army Corps Permit, to declare the Permit to have been validly issued. Deborah Vitale, President and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Europa Cruises Corporation, commenting on this development, stated: ''This is one of the most important days in the history of this Company. After years of delay and hard work, we finally have a fully-permitted gambling site at a location considered by some to be one of the five remaining destination resort locations in gaming-friendly jurisdictions in all of North America. I am truly excited about the future prospects of this Company and the potential for shareholder value triggered by this major development.'' The Company also announced that, as of March 6, 1998 Lester Bullock, former President of Europa Cruises Corporation, was no longer affiliated with the Company. The development of the Diamondhead, Mississippi project, is subject to risks and uncertainties which include those relating to financing, the activities of environmental groups, the outcome of litigation and the actions of federal, state, or local governments and agencies.
