I just looked at the VIX. It has started to rise steeply. In the past the peaks have
coincided with a short term bottom for the DJ30.

When the VIX peaks then it is overbought and that means the market is oversold.
Look at 3/5/98 VIX created a small peak and that was short term bottom for
DJ30.


I am a little confused here....

when you said it is peaking in the first paragraph..that means we are going down to a short term bottom...or we are at a short term bottom and are going up

just trying to reconcile what you are saying in the two posts...
how is VIX overbought...means market oversold????

i am confused because I dont know anything about the VIX

in one of the chart threads...vix over 20 means flashing warnings watch out below

I need helps here: How VIX is calculated? How they weight the 8 calls/puts of OEX? Can anyone give me a formula? Thanks.
