I read your article and I for one do not see why Intel would want to merge with Compaq. It seems to me that this would cut Intel off from the remaining PC makers since Intel would now be considered the 'enemy'.

It appears to me that this would drive Dell, SGI, Gateway, and others firmly into AMD or another alternate chip source supplier.
