Look up Kali in any book on world religions. There is only one manifestation of Kali, the primary mother Goddess of Indian. She has severed heads around her belt and not hands. The hands are Shiva, or the "Diva" aspect. No idol in India has hands hanging from their belt, but Kali has heads. Always has always will. Why? Per my handy World Book encl. which I keep for basic researching and clue hunting, I will quote: from Hinduism page 224. One of the most mportant Hindu dieties (DIETIES, AS IN GOD) is wife of Shiva (my picture shows a man with several arms and hands. That's the one, but NOT the blue skinned elephant nosed representation. I will find that very soon, but not now) "...She is best known as three names and..Kali" (the name she is best known throughout all basic books on pagan gods). "She is the BELOVED goddess of motherhood AS Parvati or Uma," but "as Durma, or Kali, (four names here for one lovely goddess) SHE IS THE FEARED GODDESS OF DESTRUCTION." Looking for a reason for her severed heads, I went to the index to find all mention of Kali. It referred me to "thugs". The thags committed murders and robbed their victims IN HONOR OF KALI, THE HINDU GODDESS OF DESTRUCTION AND WIFE OF SHIVA...One of their chief tenants was not to spill blood...they believed that KALI DISPOSED OF THE BODIES BY EATING THEM. I have seen it in print that life is cruel and she wants us to know that, or something equally creepy and bizarre. But now I realize it probably comes from the Thug mythologies. I can't help it if you don't know that Kali has been shown for centuries wearing severed heads around her belt. Don't blame me. Blame history for recording it, and the Indians for selling the statues today. I will document the blue-skinned god. He is either Shiva, Vishnu or Krishna, I don'tknow or care, but I have seen that comical poster a hundred times in head shops and hippy health food stores, and not too long ago. It is sad that history enflames you. But to erase this truth you must clean out a million occult bookstores and change all known writings of Indian myths and gods. Take you rage to the Indians. She is their primary goddess, and certainly the one all of the books refer to. Sorry about Kali, but Kali is fact. So is the elephant nosed god. Only it is more hysterical. Maybe it is or is not his chief consort. But this is all fact. Kali wears heads, the other is blue skinned, elephant nosed and a sex addict. I'm sorry you find this all so offensive. It is simple fact of pagan cultures. You should find it wonderful and expressive, or something, being as open minded as you are. But you seem to know precious little about the country you have traveled through. Or seen it all over America in head shops or occult bookstores. That's odd. But then all of this nutty stuff is mostly in California. Maybe you're not from there.
