Graham / I work with two companies, Alpine and Techcorp (see thread I started). I participated in a private placement with Techcorp in December 1997, and consequently needed a way of paying for it (totalled about $24,000). I have been a shareholder of Alpine for 4 years. This is the only point in time that I have not owned shares. I had the good luck of having to sell Alpine to pay for Techcorp. Over the next while, I will be repurchasing shares of Alpine. At my highest level, I owned close to 40,000 shares.

Still am bullish on the sector, but I don't think many predicted the dramatic downswing in EPS multiples in November/December last year (about 40% drop).

The largest single shareholder of Alpine purchased 50,000 shares at $1.32 (sorry, I was wrong!) within three days, and he and the president of Alpine purchased about another 200K+ shares after that purchase. There was also some purchasing occuring this month, yet to be reported, but for a minor amount (25,000 shares) around $1.00 level.

Hope this answers your questions.
