I think the main thing to figure is all of the assets in general are available to any sector of the company. Was Motorola's figures broken down ?

The interesting thing about Alcatel is: 1) they are one of Europe's leading Telecom companies; arguable the leading co, with the most forward technology; 2) their technology is world class; meaning it competes well with Americans; 3) they are in the early stages of significant restructuring, like many European companies, but very visibly could make big, big progress here; and 4) the GEC partnership (train engine partnership w/GEC of the UK) is gonna be spun off, which will make them look a lot leaner and faster growing. 5) lots more to come.
