TPI strengthens its Year 2000 capability with the release of Century Scan 2.1 March 25 , 1998 -- Mississauga, ON: Transformation Processing Inc. (TPI and OTCBB:TPII) announced today the release of its proprietary Year 2000 scanning technology, Century Scan Version 2.1. After researching a number of Year 2000 scanning tools, TPI decided to combine its Product Development capability with its Year 2000 experience to create Century Scan. Any scanning tool that would meet TPI's standards must be able to handle multiple languages in order to function appropriately in the average business environment where many development languages are common. It must have the combination of accuracy, efficiency and speed required to scan millions of lines of code. Finally, it must be reasonably priced. Century Scan 2.1 is faster, more efficient, and more accurate than any other product on the market. It can scan 100,000 lines of code and check for propagation of computer dates in minutes, depending on the platform. "Century Scan 2.1 is a highly customizable, multi-language scanning tool that will economically and efficiently identify dates during the Discovery, Assessment, Remediation, Testing and Auditing stages of the Year 2000 project," states Doug Woolridge, President of TPI. TPI has Used Century Scan 2.1 on the computer code of four companies. These companies recognize that Century Scan has three benefits. It takes far less time, it vastly decreases costs of remediation and it reduces human error. The greater the accuracy of identification of date impacted, the faster the Year 2000 project will be done and the lower the cost. RCS Communications Systems, of Israel was the first company to have their code scanned by Century Scan. "The results from Century Scan proved TPI is ahead of its competition" said Zelig Derchansky, Vice President of RCS Communications Systems. Tom Zamara, Systems Analyst of DIS Limited in Toronto commented that, "We were greatly impressed by the speed and flexibility of Century Scan. The scans are incredibly fast and accurate. You can give Century Scan a list, unlimited in length, of strings to search for in date field names or variable names, and, in addition, a list of exclusions indicating what to ignore within the resulting hits. It also does a full propagation analysis of the code, which will identify any like-fields that date-type fields are moved to, moved from or compared with. This propagation is iterative and exhaustive; in other words it keeps on following all branches of linked sequences until the end." Transformation Processing Inc. is an Information Technology company that develops and markets software and services that enable companies worldwide to automatically migrate their application programs and data from legacy systems to open system and client/server environments.
