re: teeth falling out due to Y2K :-)

Good joke. I admit there is alot of hype in this area, plus a significant number of unknowns. How does one get the best information on electrical utilities? Rick Cowles is pretty scarey: y2ktimebomb.com If this is accurate, the lights could go out on the NY Times party.

As far as contributing to the crash -- the threat of Y2K problems could open the eyes of the suckers that blindly (perhaps religiously) dump their savings into an over-valued stock market. This market has to crash sooner or later. Think Y2K fears help establish the "later" date. A spontaneous crash could occur all by itself before that date, but the fact that the market has taught people to load up on corrections seems to require something to scare people away from (their religious faith in) stocks :-)

Noticed that the VIX rose a bit last week. Perhaps this indicates a 10% correction due soon. Find this VIX chart most interesting. tscn.com
