Re:Adobe IIRC, Warnock was pushing PostScript and was looking for venture capital. He was turned down all over the place, as no one had any idea what he was talking about. He pitched the idea to Apple (to Jobs, then CEO), and walked out w/ a big check to go set up his company. Apple was a major shareholder for years.

I'm old enough to remember the TrueType fiasco(1). Apple was the corporate angel that got Adobe going, but there has been bad blood between them off and on for years.

(1) Any of the bears here want to tell me the story of TrueType? Who wrote it, where it's used, and why it came out?
