Panasonic's new DVD-ROM notebook...........................

techweb.com

The CF-63 uses a not-so-glamorous 166MHz Pentium MMX processor. The heart and soul of this machine is a second-generation Matsushita 8183 DVD-ROM drive and an MPEG II accessory pack drive. Its Yamaha OPL-3 audio subsystem generates 3D Surround Sound. Combine that with four integrated speakers, and the CF-63 sounds nearly as good as specialized multimedia notebooks like the Compaq Presario 1680. And its 13.3-inch color screen, coupled with an S3 ViRGE/MX video controller with 4MB of SGRAM, produces brilliant color displays.

The DVD-ROM drive reads CD-Rs and also functions as a 24X (maximum) CD-ROM drive. Together with the display, MPEG II and sound system, the CF-63 delivers a powerful multimedia experience. However, there is a colossal shortcoming in this notebook's first iteration: There's no external NTSC jack to connect it to a television.
